Other Effects

There were other things in West's movies that were
similar to the changes occuring in the 1930's.

Makeup was one of them.This idea of putting on makeup
in public was also a very new idea at the time.
This idea was also one of great unacceptability women were not
suppose to be seen with makeup and they were especially not
suppose to be seen in public putting makeup on in public.
It was a blatant disregard for morals when women were seen
“retouching their masterpieces in public.”

West’s frequenting of bars and casino’s was another
one of the similarities that extended the societal changes.
Prohibition was over, and men were starting to frequent bars and at this time women
were growing more liberated and going along with men to bars and casinos.
In West’s film, She Done Him Wrong, she works in a Bar and a Casino,
both which are mostly populated by men.

West also had her own unique way of talking and dancing.
These new flamboyant and outragouse ways of dancing
were something new as well.
West moved her hips and shock her body in sexy and
provacitive ways that no one had ever seen in women before.
Her language and innuendos were also a new and hard thing to grasp
for those who still belived women to be nothing but proper.
